Joseph Steward ll was apprenticed to Richard Pargeter in 1745, he was turned over to Richard Bayley in 1751, there is no record of his freedom .His first mark was as a largeworker, he entered his third mark as a smallworker on the 9th September 1762, he entered a total of 9 marks, this mark is his 5th mark entered 7th March 1770
 
This pair are very ornate, with wonderfully cast legs and very attractive Adam style engraving to the Bow, they are a heavy pair with a good solid feel.
 
The cartouche is engraved with M B in a very attractive style (see here)
